BBC 21CC : One day filming and editing

Module Description:
Working closely with BBC 21CC, Rep London is offering students on the programme the chance to develop their film-making skills in time for recording ELBA’s One Movement sports festivals in 2012. After a successful year working with BBC 21CC and offering 120 young people the chance to make their own podcasts, this new opportunity will build on the students’ creativity and flair which has been demonstrated throughout the year by their flip camera assignments. As part of the opportunity, students will learn how to use DV cameras and editing tools in the interactive classroom at BBC 21CC. One Movement is a series of exciting sports festivals funded by the Olympic Lottery Distributor and managed by ELBA. The events aim to inspire young people to get active and take up new sports by showcasing the work of local sports clubs. At the festival, the young people will report on the music and sporting activities on offer and conduct a range of interviews which will feature in their finished film.
Company Profile:
21CC is the BBC's digital classroom dedicated to exploring creative ways of using multimedia and new technology in teaching and learning. We develop and run Free-of-charge multimedia workshops for young people from 5-19 years from schools, colleges and community groups 5 days a week. We work throughout the year with professional facilitators and partners from both inside and outside the BBC. Our workshops cover all aspects of multimedia from filmmaking and podcasting to graphic design, music making and animation. Workshops are bespoke and we work with every teacher to make sure that their workshop is tailored specifically to their students needs, from key stage 1 to 5. We are constantly researching new innovations in multimedia technology and developing ways to introduce them into the classroom.BBC 21CC has two classrooms, one in White City, London, the other in Swinton, Salford.
'This is a great opportunity for BBC 21CC to link up with schools from across East London to show students what working in the media means- focusing on radio and podcasting, these two hour taster sessions give students the opportunity to get hands on with sound recording and editing equipment and make their own short broadcasts.' BBC 21CC
