This module focuses on developing students review writing skills, as well as their creativity. Review writing is very different from writing an essay, it requires a certain type of style that both influences and entertains its audience. Through this module, students are asked to go out and explore their local area and then review the things on their doorstep, such as museums, art galleries, parks and more.
The students will need to produce high-quality reviews that are quirky and dynamic to ensure that they are featured on our iPhone app East London Buzz Stops. The app, which is free to download, has been designed to expose even more people to the hidden gems of East London, and in turn, encourage more people to spend in the area. We’re already working with companies like Freshfields, Societe Generale and Citi to populate the app with reviews but we also want the insider’s perspective, and who better to ask than our own Rep London students! We realise that Rep London students have unbeatable and extensive knowledge of their local area and we want to capitalise on this.
On the day, students will be briefed about the type of thing that we’re looking for, then split into small groups and given designated areas to explore. Each group will be set several tasks, including interviewing local residents, taking unusual and striking photographs, and reviewing around 3-5 different places. The module will last two hours.
This module is specifically tied to the modules held at Archant, and work to supplement students’ knowledge and develop the skills that they have acquired through the Archant module.
