Just south of the River Thames lies the historic borough of Greenwich. A former play pen for English monarchs such as Henry VIII, Greenwich continues to entertain over nine million visitors each year, bringing in around £532 million to the local economy. With the Cutty Sark, the Maritime Museum, the 02 and a whole host of other attractions, Greenwich offers both tourists and residents a vibrant borough in which to work and play. However, despite Greenwich’s success as a World Heritage Site, it is still tackling high unemployment rates and pockets of deprivation. Numerous regeneration projects are attempting to tackle these figures and provide local people with more employment opportunities.
